Culture and Democracy
Inglehart in „Culture and Democracy“ says that economic development correlates strongly with democracy, it means the higher GNP/capita in a country is, the more likely the people want to have a democratic government. But high GNP or good economic situation generally is not the only precondition of democracy. Social and political values, history of the country and some other elements play a big role in this process.
Among others, religion is very important in the process of democratization. Inglehart in his cultural map of the world shows how different religions have a different impact on the people and the cultural map.
